  ST. AUGUSTINE
Head north on I-95 and within just a short 30-minute drive, you’ll enjoy the beauty of this vibrant and historically signi cant city. Founded in 1565, St. Augustine is America’s oldest continuous European settlement and much of its early history is still evident today.  e “Nation’s Oldest City” has a 17th-century fort, old city gates, horse-drawn carriages passing along narrow streets, and a reconstructed 18th-century Spanish Quarter. Highlights include the Castillo de San Marcos and the nearby historic district which dates to the 16th century.
For an intriguing daytime activity, check out the Lightner Museum, originally Henry Flagler’s Alcazar Hotel, which o ers a vivid glimpse into St. Augustine’s opulent Victorian era. Kids will enjoy St. Augustine’s famous evening ghost walks and the Ripley’s Believe
It or Not! museum. For an unusually delightful experience, climb the lighthouse or visit the alligator farm. St. Augustine also has some of the region’s most unique shopping and dining venues. You can choose from a low-key lunch at Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille, or delicious Cuban cuisine at the Columbia House. Additionally, the city hosts live music and arts festivals and is well-known for its Christmas decorations and the annual Nights of Lights holiday display, which was proclaimed as one of the best light displays in the world by National Geographic.
